Most of you know him already, I definitely talk about him enough! I can’t help it though…he’s my best friend, love of my life, business partner, sounding board, partner in parenting (and in crime ;) ), amazing giver of back and foot massages, the smartest man I know and he’s pretty hilarious too.

There are many personal reasons why I think he deserves an ENTIRE blog post, but I will try to keep to the photography related ones :)

He has been the biggest part of my business so far. (with Luca being a close close close 2nd). He has been my #1 fan, supporter, and sounding board since I started this entire journey. Never once has he given me anything but a “you can DO this” attitude and I am grateful to him everyday.

What first attracted me to Marco was his outlook on life. He has this amazing view that if you want something, truly believe you can do it, work hard enough at it, you can be successful. I am a pretty positive person but Marco beats me in positivity on most things. He believes where there’s a will there’s a way. He believes in hard work, in accomplishing your dreams, in having barely achievable goals…working your butt off to achieve them, and then celebrating the heck out of the fact that you beat the odds. He is also one of the most competitive people I have ever met. Its what drew me to him in the beginning and what usually fuels most of our arguments. He has helped me change the way I think. He has helped me realize that being afraid of something is okay, it means your growing. He tells me on a weekly basis to “get uncomfortable” and to “have faith, take a leap, go for it” and I love him so so much for it.

In 2011 Marco 2nd shot 3 weddings for me. The first wedding he 2nd shot was Heather and Dirks. Which I was soooo nervous for! It was my first solo wedding, my first wedding of a 10 wedding season and it was in the States. I brought Marco along more for emotional support and gave him the camera for fun! He also ran Heather and Dirks photobooth for me so I could be focused on the bride and groom! It turned out he was actually pretty good. No great, as he would like to tell you, but good. What he excelled at though was with the wedding party. He had them all laughing, he was chatting up the wedding guests, and the parents all night. I swear by the end of the night they liked him more than me!

Over the Summer he practiced more and more and ended up 2nd shooting for me two back to back weekends in a row. Once for Jen and Travis‘ wedding and 2nd for Alex and Brodie’s wedding. Marco BLEW me away! The images he got were amazing! He was thrilled when he saw that Alex even had one of his pictures as her profile image on facebook! Imagine how he ran with that…Mr. Competitive! haha

I LOVED having him there with me and was so proud and impressed with the photos he took. You guys were too! I have had 2 brides this year actually request Marco as my 2nd shooter! He was thrilled! :) I wish he could 2nd shoot every wedding with me!

Many people ask, including our friends and family why Marco doesn’t leave his job and become a full time business partner and 2nd shooter….like a Jasmine* and JD idea! As much as I would LOVE that, I don’t want it for Marco…

We are both blessed to each be working our dream jobs. Marco is a full time financial advisor for Investors Group. He works with his Dad’s practice and LOVES it. I try so hard for my eyes not to glaze over when he comes home from work and talks about taxes, mortgages, personal planning, estate planning, investments, mutual funds, etc etc etc. I really do try! His face lights up though when he talks about how much money he saved one family, or how much he was able to help another photographer with her business planning. (The next question most people ask is if he tells me about all his clients. No. He only tells me about an exciting plan he is putting together or hmmm haha that’s how much I listen I can’t think of anything else he tells me! whoops! But he doesn’t even tell me who his clients are….the only way I know is if the client chooses to tell me personally themselves. It’s 110% confidential!   oh and it’s FREE! haha it always blows my mind that not EVERYONE has a financial advisor….they are free people! FREE!) When I asked him why this was his dream job he simply replied, “I love how much I can help people, I love how excited they get when they find out how much money they can save, I love how I can help them achieve the lifestyle they have always hoped and dreamed for.” Yep I was teary eyed after he said that one!

And here’s some of my favourite random Marco facts:

– He played 4 years of University Volleyball (that’s how we met!)

– He also is an avid soccer player!

– He has his Bachelor of Business Administration

– Yes, he’s Italian! With a name like Marco Luigi he has to be!

– His favourite TV shows are Castle, Hawaii 5-0, and anything sports related AT ALL!

– His favourite hockey team is also the Montreal Canadians (otherwise my Dad wouldn’t have let me marry him! haha I kid.)

– Its rare to see him dressed in casual clothes….he rocks the suit and tie most of the time!

– He has a weakness for pop and skor bars

– His dream is to one day own multiple businesses, travel to Italy and buy a Ferrari (red of course)

– He LOVES cereal, but hates having breakfast food for dinner.
